Biosuggestive Therapy (BST) is a patented, short-term, simple therapeutic technique that reduces stress, relieves psychological and physical symptoms, and restores a sense of well-being.
It uses suggestive constructions, music, and rhythmic touch to trigger self-regulatory processes.
What does Biosuggestion Mean?
This therapeutic technique uses suggestion in a light trance state.
But suggestion is not only verbal, by words, but also non-verbal, with the help of special overtones of the therapist's voice.
When was the BST Method Developed?
The BST method exists from 1994. It has been patented as a useful model in 2019. The author of the BST method is Dr. Alexander Strashny.
Currently, more than 1.200 psychologists have been trained and use this method. About 100.000 people get BST therapy every year.
Biosuggestive Therapy is used in private practice, in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and even in areas of military operations.
Biosuggestive Therapy is effective tool used for reducing stress, anxiety, as well as correction and treatment of the whole list of psycho-somatic (mind/body) disorders: overall tension, irritability, fatigue, insomnia, frequent headaches, panic attacks, high blood pressure, various types of spasms, digestive problems, pains in joints, in backbone and so on.
Limitations
Biosuggestive sessions cannot replace medical treatment.
Before starting therapy, patients must be examined by a medical doctor.
We must be sure that they do not have any organic disease that requires medical intervention, but not a psychological one.
Contraindications for sessions are as follows:
- BST should not be used in case of unclear health disorders.
- We don`t use BST for patients with acute paranoid symptoms.
- It is forbidden to listen to audio sessions while driving a car.
- Combatants cannot get BST sessions before a fight.
About 90% of patients and clients respond positively to the therapy.
Most of them begin to feel the effect of therapy quickly - after the first or second session.
BST sessions are pleasant for patients. There are no complications.
There is no need for many sessions. Sessions can be individual or with a group. Mastering this method doesn’t require a lot of time.
Biosuggestive audio sessions have an impact not only on the client but also on the therapist.
The BST method has passed 24 scientific trials in the leading Ukrainian universities.
All trails have confirmed the high effectiveness of this method.

A therapeutic session has three parts.
The first part is an individual dialogue with a client.
The second part in a case of working with a group is a group induction, a conversation between therapist and several clients.
And the third part is a biosuggestive therapeutic meditation.
An Individual Dialogue With a Client
An individual conversation with a client takes place at the beginning of each session.
That is a certain system of questions and answers.
The goal is to find out what positive changes the client has and what symptoms still remain.
The structure of conversation is organized in such a way that there should be a rupture of the client's neurotic pattern.
A Group Induction
A group induction is the activation of mirror neurons.
Before the group meditation, we ask clients who have noticed improvements to share their experiences.
When someone talks about their positive changes, it accelerates the recovery process for others.
A Biosuggestive Therapeutic Meditation
Meditation follows the rules of classical suggestive therapy (specially prepared text is used to create positive psychological change) with three modifications.
1. We are not trying to put the client into a state of deep trance. To achieve a good therapeutic result, the trance may be light.
2. The therapist's voice, accompanied by background music, sounds in the audio recording.
3. While meditation, the therapist lightly touches the clients.
So, the influence on the patients or clients occurs through verbal and non-verbal therapeutic suggestions.
The total time of the session is 30-40 minutes, the duration of meditation is 18 minutes.
Why Use Audio Recordings Instead of a "Live" Voice?
Recordings deliver a perfectly crafted and precisely timed text to the patient.
The recording ensures that any potential irritation or stress from the therapist is not transmitted to the patient.
Listening to a recorded session reduces the patient’s psychological resistance.
The therapist does not need to speak loudly, maintaining a stable and calm tone.
As a result, audio recordings are perceived better than a live voice, leading to greater therapeutic effectiveness.
Purpose of Touching During a BST Session
Touching is necessary to keep attention. It rhythmically brings the client to what is happening here and now.
Touching is necessary for the client to feel safe.
Kind touching affects the client not only psychologically, but also chemically, increasing the level of oxytocin in his body.
Rhythmic touches affect certain areas of skin that are connected to internal organs.
So, touch is a good tool for increasing the effectiveness of therapy.
Touch in Online Session: Guided Imagery
According to CT scans, when one person touches another, the recipient's brain areas associated with touch reach maximum activation.
When an individual touches themselves, brain activation drops to only about 10%.
If a person imagines being touched by another, brain activation reaches approximately 60–70%.
This level of neural response is sufficient to facilitate effective therapeutic outcomes in an online format.
The therapy does not target specific diseases, but rather influences the entire organism as a whole. BST exerts a comprehensive effect on the human body by harmonizing the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems and initiating self-regulation and homeostatic recovery.
This holistic impact enables the simultaneous improvement of both mental and somatic health.
We adhere to the hypothesis that in cases of psychosomatics, a person is simultaneously sick and not sick. This means that under the influence of stressors, a "neural network of illness" has formed. However, the "neural network of health" (so to speak) remains intact; it is simply in an inactive state.
A confirmation of this hypothesis can be seen in language learning: when a person learns a new language, a new neural network is formed. Yet, the network of their previous language doesn't disappear — it continues to exist alongside the new one.
Biosuggestive therapy does not create new neural networks.
Instead, it returns the patient's nervous system to the healthy state it was in before the illness.
The goal is to reactivate the “neural network of health”. By doing so, the “neural network of illness” becomes inactive.
During a BST Session, the Ventral Vagal Branch is Activated
The ventral branch of the vagus nerve is a component of the parasympathetic nervous system.
According to Polyvagal Theory, it is responsible for the state of calm and physiological restoration.
High tone in this branch eliminates hyperventilation, slows the heart rate, improves digestion, and primes the body for healing.
High vagal tone activates the Social Engagement System, allowing the body to shift from "survival mode" to "healing mode".
Eliminating Hyperventilation
According to Christian Bohr's theory, cells can effectively absorb oxygen only when there is a sufficient level of carbon dioxide in the intercellular space.
In the BST sessions significant attention is given to a calm exhalation. The rhythm of the music is set to an optimal rate of 12 breaths per minute.
Slow breathing increases the level of CO2 in the body, thereby facilitating efficient oxygen absorption by the cells.
This optimization of gas exchange helps restore the patient's energy levels and overall vitality.
The Impact of BST on Immunity
Chronic stress suppresses the immune system due to high cortisol levels. In stress, the body experiences a decrease in lymphocytes and T-cells, which leads to internal inflammation.
During a BST session, the patient enters a state of profound relaxation. This reduces cortisol production and improves the release of "well-being" neurotransmitters, such as: Serotonin, Dopamine, Oxytocin, Endorphins.
That strengthens the immune system and helps the body reduce inflammation.
The Impact of BST on Muscles, Joints, and the Spine
Stress and anxiety cause skeletal muscles to tense up. This tension compresses blood vessels, leading to poor circulation and chronic pain.
Muscle stiffness can result in: pain in the neck, shoulders, back, and joints.
When muscles are constantly tense, they compress the vertebrae and put pressure on intervertebral discs, disrupting their metabolism.
During BST sessions, the muscles relax and blood vessels dilate (expand). Oxygen and nutrient levels return to normal. As a result, сhronic pain disappears.
Home Relaxation Sessions on YouTube
BST home anti-stress sessions are available on YouTube in English, French, German, Ukrainian, Italian, Hungarian, and Polish.

After getting acquainted with Biosuggestive Therapy, I realized that it is really an author's method, and not a "reinvented bicycle" - in contrast to 99% of "methods" that are positioned as "unique", "author" and obtained by "enlightenment".

In my clinical practice, there are always many patients with psychosomatic disorders. When I use the BST method, I realized the opportunity to help them more, and I am happy to do it. So I have great results. I'm in love with this method! Feedback from people is pouring in!
Marina Litvinchuk
medical doctor, Head of Adonis Therapeutic departments, lecturer at Kyiv Medical University.
I consider the BST method to be more effective for the treatment of psycho-somatic diseases than traditional ones with the use of pharmacotherapy. The result is much faster and more stable, which enables patients to stop the endless search for a doctor and a method of treatment that will help them.
We are looking to share our method with colleagues from around the world.
Training sessions for psychologists are available both in-person and online.
The BST training course is usually held 16 hours - for 8 hours on Saturday and Sunday.
The two-day cycle allows the listener to learn the method completely and then use it in a practice.
